State of the Art and the largest indoor canine hydrotherapy pool in the Metro Detroit area. Aqua Healing is located inside of The Barkshire: Resort for Paws. Our pool is 28’ long, 13’ wide, and 3’6” deep. The ideal size of the pool allows even large dogs to paddle without touching the bottom. At the same time, it is shallow enough to allow the hydrotherapist to move easily in the water to assist your pet when swimming.
Our pool water has a salt content of approximately 3000 parts per million which makes the water soft and friendly to human and animal skin. The salt content is just below the threshold of taste so the water is still fresh. The system has a sophisticated automatic water chemistry controller which continuously monitors and adjusts salt levels to the perfect settings.
Four swim resistance jets that produce a water current on demand. This feature provides the hydrotherapist with flexibility in developing an ideal treatment program for your pet. The pool has an entry ramp with a non-slip surface that will allow entry and exit with ease. Exit and entry is always assisted.
The pool has an oversized filtration system given the pool’s size and volume. The filter system will turn over the pool volume in 1.3 hours. This is a much higher standard than commercial public swimming pools in Michigan which require a minimum of 6 hour turnover rates.
Dog hair is continuously collected from the pool water surfaced by the means of 4 automatic skimmers. Our surface skimmers are sized 4 times larger than those required for commercial swimming pools.
The pool has 4 bottom drains (main drains) for the collection of hair and debris that settle in the pool. This also ensures complete water recirculation, as well as heat and salt water distribution.
The pool water is heated by a thermostatically controlled pool heater; water temperature will be maintained at 86-89 degrees Fahrenheit.
